Film nights at the LDMRC

A prospective new venture for us this year will be the possibility of introducing of a series of Railway themed Film Nights at the Aisthorpe Village Hall, It is anticipated that these could be open to members and non members alike with a price incentive for members. The subject matter of these evenings would be primarily Railway based, but that being such a large subject area, the scope for anything railway and transport related is vast, and should provide a detailed look at some railway subjects of both local and historical interest.
There are also plans afoot, to have a series of talks and insights on a wide range of railway infastructure and practices, both from thr modern Diesel Era as well as the Steam periods throughout British history. These would be held by special speakers who drive real trains, operate signals and follow working practices, which would no doubt enlighten many of us who have often wondered how these things actually work. It is hoped that this will provide a valuable source of detailed operational information to us modellers such as what locomotives pulled what loads and with what wagons and carriages and ithe mysteries that surround the use and positioning of signals, and signalling practices.
These nights are currently at the initial planning stage, so please stay tuned and check in on us later in the year to get an update on them . . . LDMRC
